WARRENDER WIN ESPC 5s Warrender have secured the ESPC 5s title after
some tense games yesterday at Portobello Swim
Centre. Warrender topped Group A after defeating
the Composite Team, Fleetwood and Dunfermline
(last years winners) in the group stages meaning
they would play the 2nd placed team in Group B.
Burnley were next up (in the semi) and were
dispatched with relative ease. In the other semi
final, Leeds defeated Dunfermline in a phyical
match to secure their place in the final. The
first few minutes of the final were fairly slow
with both teams failing to score some easy
chances. Warrender then stepped up a gear and
converted almost 100% of their shots for the
remainder of the period ensuring that they went
ahead going into the final 8 minutes. Leeds
never really managed to contain the powerful
Warrender team and in the end it was a superb
victory for the home team (11-6). All in all it
was another excellent tournament and we look
forward to seeing thre teams next year.

On behave of the players I would like to thank
all the officals. The three musketeers did a
grand job as usual and the referees, Ken, Keith,
Jim Rox.(my old buddy)and Ginger Dave. Not
forgettinng Duncan Mac. for bookinh the pool and
inviting all the teams. Maybe before he gets to
old will be able to play in the 5s. Saying that
a beleive the was an old godger playing or
trying to swim up and down the pool. Hoping to
get the ball so that he could have a rest.
Thanks again guys. Oh and not forget Keith
Anderson who came out of retirement again. Sorry
if I have missed anybody and if I have thank you.

Guys, thanks for organising the tournament again
this year. We always really enjoy playing in
it and the set up is perfect (even if Callum can
jump off the bottom - still bitter). I know
that the university guys enjoyed it as well and
was valuable experience of "the next level".
Looking forward to next year (if invited)
already.
