Warrender have produced some top players over the years, here is a list of a few of them. If you can think of anyone who should be on this list (or if you can update any of the info), please let us know.
Keith Anderson. An ex Scotland International Goalkeeper, Keith played with Warrender in the late 80s and throughout the 90s. Keith played his part in the team who came 2nd in the British Cup.
Ian Barrie. Left handed goalscorer capped by Scotland in the 70s and 80s. Iain helped the team to Scottish Cup success in 1985. Player of the year in both 1979 & 1980.
Stanley Bell. Capped by Scotland in both the 1890s and 1900s.
George Burt. Outstanding goalkeeper.
GS Campbell. Capped by Scotland in the 20s.
TB Campbell. Capped by Scotland in the 1900s.
Innes Chalmers. A regular in both the Junior and Senior teams throughout the late 80s and early 90s. Innes was part of the team who reached the Junior Scottish Cup final in the late 80s.
Ronnie Chalmers. One of the younger members of the 1985 Cup winning team. Ronnie was capped by Scotland at most levels. Player of the year in 1988.
Alastair Cook. Renowned for his “look one way, shoot the other” technique. Alistair was capped at Scotland Junior level and played with the team throughout the 80s and early 90s.
Robin Currie. Played with the team during the 1950s. Capped by Scotland.
Alan Donaldson. Life member with Dunfermline Water Polo Club, Alan played for Warrender in the late 70s, early 80s. Capped over 100 times by Scotland, Alan has played water polo all over the world. Several GB caps.
Graham Davidson. Along with Innes Chalmers, Graham was an ever present in the Junior and Senior team in the late 80s. Graham was also a member of the Junior side to reach the Scottish Cup final.
John Faben. A member of the team during the 2007 season helping the club achieve a respectable 2nd place in the League.
GW Ferguson. Scotland Caps during the 1920s & 1930s.
Steve Gauldie. Brother of Dave, Steve was renowned as a strong and physical player scoring goals from all over the pool. Coached the team before moving back to Canada.
Peter Gilhooly. Played for the team during the 70s. Moved to Dunfermline in the early 80s as Dunfermlines first "imported" player.
Ian Gordon. Player of the year in 2001. Ian was renowned for his speed in the pool and his goal scoring. Moved to Australia in 2006.
Rob Heatly. Played a pivotal part in the 1985 Scottish Cup win.
D Henderson. Capped in the 1900s.
Ken Hutchison. Played with the team in the 1950s as a winger.
ND Irving. Capped by Scotland during the 1930s.
Peter Lamb. Capped by Scotland at all levels, Peter played with Warrender throughou8t the 80s and early 90s before “defecting” to Portobello. Great left handed shot and renowned goalscorer from the wing.
Adam Lewis. Goalkeeper during the 80s.
Rob Lucas. Player of the year in 1993. Rob captained the team during the early to mid 90s before moving to Portobello. Capped at Scottish Senior level.
J Lynas. Capped by Scotland during the 1930s.
Ian MacCallum. Without doubt, Warrenders greatest ever player. Ian was capped at Scotland and GB level. Voted player of the year on 9 occasions, Ian was coveted by Europe’s elite clubs throughout his career. A powerful goalscoring centre forward usually first pick for Great Britain during the 80s and 90s.
Ross MacCallum. Brother of Ian, Ross played with Warrender during the 80s and 90s. Capped by Scotland, Ross played a vital part of the 1985 Cup winning team. Strong and physical player.
AW MacDonald. Capped by Scotland during the 1930s.
Frank Marshall. Water Polo International in 1896. Frank gained Warrenders first ever International cap (including the swimming team).
Fergus McLean. Played with the team during the 80s and early 90s. Fergus was capped at Scotland Junior and U21 level. Strong player with a good shot.
Matt McGeehan. Player of the year in both 2002 & 2005. Moved to England in 2005. Matt’s dedication to the team is sorely missed. A strong all round player who could read the game extremely well.
Connor Mullaney. Vital part of the team who won the Cup in 1985. Connor moved to Germany after playing with the team during the 1980s and early 90s. Physical player with the ability to play centre forward.
Alistair Ramm. Represented Scotland in the early 80s. Ali was part of the Cup winning team in 1985. Went on to coach the team to further success in the late 80s / early 90s.
JM Ritchie. Scotland Water Polo captain throughout the 20a & 30s. JM Ritchie was also capped at Scotland level in both Football and Rugby.
Douglas Smith. Capped by Scotland in the 1980s.
Jean-Marc Vaucher. Swiss born Jean-Marc played with the team in 2007 for 5 months. A fast player with a good knowledge of thr game.
