Since its incorporation on 24 March 1971, the Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre (ESPC) has grown to become the leading force in residential property marketing throughout east central Scotland.

Why Choose ESPC?

The ESPC assembles the strengths of over 240 Solicitor Estate Agents across East Central Scotland providing customers with unmatched access to the property market.

Added to an extensive Solicitors network, your property will benefit from maximum exposure:

• espc.com generates over 170 million hits every month, and has more local properties than any other local website.
• Displayed in our prime site Edinburgh Showroom we attract over 5,500 visitors per week.
• Your property insert into the ESPChomepages weekly publication with a circulation of over 41,000 to over 1,000 outlets.

Put simply, this increases the number of potential viewings, notes of interest, and final bid price. The facts stand up to scrutiny.

Choosing ESPC is a simple choice. It isn’t just about volume properties it’s about service. To find out more our 10 reasons to choose ESPC guide will help you arrive at your decision.

The early years

In May 1971, ESPC took its place on Edinburgh’s prestigious George Street, with the opening of the very first property centre at number 59a. By coming together under the ESPC banner, solicitors throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians were able to provide homebuyers and sellers with a convenient, cost-effective and hassle-free means to buy and sell property under one roof.

ESPC's property guide

Eleven years later by then a well known, established and trusted institution, the first issue of the Weekly List was published on Thursday, 20 May 1982, advertising some 1,500 properties for sale. The Weekly List was - and remains (as ESPChomepages) a free publication, available to the public from the offices of member firms, as well as from the George Street showroom. And, in the same way that properties were later to be displayed in the centre, by area and then by price, prospective buyers had only to turn to the sections dealing with their preferred locations and then scan the columns for the desired price range. Front page editorial first appeared early in 1985.

The success of the Edinburgh Weekly List, both within Edinburgh and the Lothians as well as Fife and the Forth valley, spawned two new property guides. The Fife & Kinross Weekly List and Central Weekly List were launched during 1995.

In summer 2000, ESPC pulled all three publications into one, so creating the single biggest guide to residential property for sale throughout east central Scotland. Still a free publication, ESPChomepages is actively picked up by over 41,000 house hunters every week.

Showrooms

In June 1985, ESPC moved to larger premises at 81 George Street to accommodate growing demand and, for the first time, properties for sale were put on display. ESPC moved again in November 1990, to its present home at 85 George Street, where there are now up to 4,500 properties prominently displayed at any one time and where around 5,500 people - those actively looking to purchase a new home - cross the threshold every week.

Website

In September 1997, ESPC launched its website espc.com which gave access to every property for sale through member firms. This was relaunched in summer 2001, providing:

  • An enhanced property search service, with improved maps
  • A personalised matching service, so buyers can be notified of suitable properties by email
  • Up to date useful information on the full range of ESPC services

The site now uses Google maps making it easier to locate properties using state of the art technology from the world's largest search engine.

Money Management

A team of Financial Planning Consultants and Mortgage Advisers is based at the Edinburgh showroom, and for six days of the week, homebuyers in Falkirk and Fife can also see an adviser, by appointment.
